Abstract
No original viewpoint develops in an intellectual vacuum; nor would it be useful if it did. All legitimate development, in economics as elsewhere, develops from the solid foundations laid by previous contributors to the subject. Yet development is not linear; similar results may be produced quite independently by different researchers using the normal methods of objective inquiry.
