Abstract
An average in mathematics can mean any kind of representative number but in everyday language when we find the word ‘average’ it is usually referring to arithmetic mean. To find the average (that is, the arithmetic mean) we add all the quantities together (money, weights, runs, people, etc.) and then divide by the number of quantities.
