Abstract
As the senior officer Don Pedro defends his own position and Claudio’s honour by the public nature of Hero’s shaming. Don Pedro had promoted the match and is therefore implicated in the shame:
I stand dishonoured, that have gone about To link my dear friend to a common stale.
