Abstract
The dramatists discussed in this book are Marlowe, Webster and Jonson. Together with Shakespeare they are the principal English Renaissance playwrights, and as such their works are still frequently performed, widely available in print and quite accessible. In addition, all three are enjoyable and rewarding writers to study. Their plays are strong and interesting but not too obscure, not too difficult. Admittedly they can look daunting at first sight, and as you start to study one of their plays your initial impression may well be that Renaissance drama is very difficult indeed.
