Abstract

The telecommunications industry has undergone dramatic changes in the last five years, driven by social, economic and political forces. The changes had tremendous impact on the corporate world, government and the public service sector. For many organizations the changes call for new services, new products and better ways of delivering services. Teleconferencing is one of those services. Both private business and the public service sector is increasingly finding that teleconferencing can meet many of its needs for information exchange and transfer. Teletravel can be more than ten times more effective than actual business travel to a meeting or conference. Not only is teleconferencing displacing certain travel and personal visits for routine business, teleconferencing enables new services, like distance teaching and telemarketing, to evolve.
