Abstract
Many investigators have found a reduced rate of 5-HT reuptake into the platelets of depressed persons (Coppen et al, I978; Tuomisto et al, 1979). This abnormality appears to be specific for biological or endogenous depression (ICD.9, code 296.I), not being found in schizophrenia (Stahl et al, I983) or in reactive depression (ICD.9, code 30I.I) (Leonard et al, I984).
