Abstract

The paper presents a new method of automatic measurement of workpiece size on a numerically controlled centre lathe, which has been developed at the Warsaw Technical University. The measurement taken on a stationary workpiece and carried out during interruption between subsequent cuts allows an automatic correction of the final cut. The diameter based on the measured radius is determined by means of a specially developed and built double-touch trigger probe and a transducer mounted on the NC lathe and indicating the displacement in X-axis direction
