Insurance Company Organisation and Management Structure

Abstract

There are over thirteen and half thousand insurance companies operating throughout the world and, although some insurance companies operate only locally, others — particularly those with head offices in the USA and the European Community — spread their activities around the globe. Although the situation varies between regions, on a worldwide basis one-quarter of all insurers are life companies, two-thirds are non-life or general insurers, and something less than 10 per cent are composites operating in both fields.
