Music Circuits

Chapter
Part of the Macmillan Electronic Projects Series book series (ELECPROJ)

Abstract

The music perfectionist shudders at the thought of electronic music since it does not truly match the original sounds of the musical instrument. Electronic music has a sound of its own and does not always attempt to imitate exactly the true instrument. (An electronic instrument does, however, have a volume control and can be used with headphones to avoid annoying the neighbours.) Each circuit can be coupled to any preamplifier or amplifier of earlier chapters, or they can be coupled to the synthesiser circuits of chapter 5 and disco circuits of chapter 6. Some music circuits can be regarded as toys or fun circuits — many an electronic engineer has been introduced to the world of electronics by a gift of such a circuit at an early age.
