Decoders convert binary codes into individual output lines, one of which will be activated depending upon the binary input. Each output line represents a decimal number. The reverse process of converting an activated line (which represents a decimal number) into binary code, is achieved by a circuit known as an Encoder. (Fig. 1.56A), or 0 for an even number (Fig. 1.56B).
