Abstract
Any discussion of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) views on international security must be based on a recognition that the varying historical experiences, socio-political systems and economic development of the individual ASEAN countries result in different nuances and emphases in the formation of their perceptions. In addition, while all ASEAN countries are located within the Southeast Asian region, their geographic position does affect their perceptions as well.
