Abstract

The word ‘electronics’ conjures up thoughts of radio sets, television receivers, computers, hi-fi systems and a large number of other electrical products that use electronic circuits in one form or other. These electronic circuits can be very simple indeed, consisting of only one or two components—such as the photovoltaic lightmeter—or they can be very complex with circuit integration, encapsulation or miniaturisation such as that found in minicomputers or guided-missile systems.
