Abstract

This paper is presented not primarily because of any research merit, but because it provides an example of a reasonably successful small-scale study carried out by the author, who at the outset was inexperienced in the application of research principles. The study was not carried out as a requirement for any academic qualification, but stemmed from a curiosity related to educational practices. It provides an example of study carried out in a single establishment, with a minimum of disruption to normal working with an insignificant financial outlay, utilising readily available resources.
