Some Observations on Nursing Education, Research and Practice in the United States

  • Chapter
Issues in Nursing Research

Abstract

To be invited to address this research conference of the Royal College of Nursing is for me both an honour and a worry: an honour because I full well recognise the esteem that such an invitation accords to an outsider to nursing and to British nursing, a worry because I am very much like that famous fish who was asked to describe the water in which it swims and had great difficulty doing so. I was, however, delighted to accept the invitation of your organisers to contribute a discussion on the theme of the relationship between education, practice and research in nursing.
