Although this book is segmented into chapters, you will have gathered that many of the concepts are interrelated and to a large extent depend on the support of each other. Take, for example, the concept of ‘gain and loss of esteem’. The initial attitude you convey to others is influenced by the ‘first impression’ which you create through the appearance of yourself and your salon and this, in turn, is mediated by the ‘non-verbal signals’ which you give out. All these factors are going to be of importance in the interview situation, where your initial attitude is formed.
