Abstract
Primates are little-used at the present time in studies on either trypanosomiasis or schistosomiasis. Nevertheless, experiments in primates carried out over the last three decades have been of major significance in opening up new areas of investigation into these diseases — in particular, with regard to immunology and immunopathology. Increasingly, however, current investigators are turning to inbred strains of laboratory rodents and in vitro systems in attempts to disentangle the complexities of the host-parasite relationships.
