Speaking of the part he will play as conferencier of an evening of improvisation, Impulse!, which will open for one week on Monday night at the O’Keefe Centre,1 Brendan Behan declared he will ‘get up and talk a lot of nonsense’. Asked what he knew about jazz, since Impulse! is advertised as a jazz revue, he stated, ‘I can’t read a note of music but I can certainly read a cheque.’
