Abstract
This ‘further memorandum on the Report of the Committee on Broadcasting, 1960’,1 while not discounting the evidence of disquiet with certain aspects of itv, rejected the Report’s recommendations for radical change. What faults there were could be remedied by less drastic measures. The achievement of the existing system was such as to justify its continuance. But a decision on a second ita service would be left in abeyance for the time being: the possibility that it would eventually be authorised was not ruled out, even though there was as yet no evidence of public demand for it and its financial prospects could be doubtful.
