Abstract

Asset management is one of the Euro-bank chief executive’s highest priorities in view of the importance usually placed by stockholders on participation in the medium-term Euro-currency deposit and lending market and the relative facility with which a loan portfolio can be built up to earn a return on invested capital. While many Euro-banks — particularly subsidiaries of the large American commercial banks — as a matter of policy do not carry a significant loan portfolio on their own books, interest differential income and fees derived from loan participations represent the dominant source of income for most Euro-banks.
