Equation of a Straight Line

  • J. Newbury
Chapter

Abstract

So far we have seen that a straight line can be described as a line with a constant gradient and we know how to find the gradient of any particular line from a graph of the line. In this section we shall look more closely at the co-ordinates of points on a straight line to see if there is a way of finding each y from each x co-ordinate. If we can establish such a connection then we shall have what is known as the equation of the line.
