Solving Simultaneous Equations Graphically

  • J. Newbury

Let us summarise this method of solution. Given a pair of simultaneous linear equations, to find a solution we first draw the two straight lines represented by the equations, find the point where they cross and read off the co-ordinates. These co-ordinates then give us our solution. Try the method out on the next exercise — if you do not appear to be getting a solution, ask yourself why?
