  • abstracts of information

  • minutes

  • synopses of reports

  • telephone messages

  • summaries of correspondence

all demand of the writer the ability to select, often from a mass of information, the relevant matter and to express that information as concisely as possible. Practice in summary writing for examination purposes will assist the potential secretary to develop a necessary and most useful skill.
