At school summarising may have seemed an academic exercise. In business it is a practical skill which has a very wide range of applications. Composition of, for example,
all demand of the writer the ability to select, often from a mass of information, the relevant matter and to express that information as concisely as possible. Practice in summary writing for examination purposes will assist the potential secretary to develop a necessary and most useful skill.
