Abstract
In secretarial communication examination papers the essay question, in contrast with the other questions, offers the student an opportunity to express her own interests, opinions and attitudes, in fact, her own individual personality. She also has a chance to show her knowledge and understanding of current events and topics, which can only be acquired by regular reading of newspapers and periodicals. Such a knowledge will be a valuable asset at work and must be developed throughout the secretarial course.
