Abstract

However much one theorises about statistics and mathematics, in the end one has to come to the point where calculations have to be performed. These are the mechanical operations, but speed and accuracy are essential. Of course one can use pocket calculators, but even sophisticated computers in this Age of Technology, but there are obvious dangers in becoming too dependent on such devices. What happens when we have left our calculator behind, or the batteries run down? What happens to our sophisticated computers when the power supplies are cut off? Are we to be left with a mental vacuum?
