Methotrexate CNS Pharmacokinetics in Combination Chemotherapy

  • Chapter

Abstract

A major factor responsible for the improved treatment results in children with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia has been the institution of central nervous system (CNS) prophylaxis which has markedly reduced the incidence of meningeal disease (Mauer and Simone, 1976). However, meningeal leukaemia still occurs and the treatment of this complication poses a major therapeutic challenge.
