Abstract

A tactical revolution in conventional warfare is in the offing.1 It is brought by the advances that are being made over the whole range of conventional technology — and not only technology, for radical changes are occurring in tactical doctrine and force structure. For example, every nato army deployed in Central Europe is undergoing, or has announced, major structural changes in its combatant organizations and is experimenting with radically new tactical employment concepts.
