Abstract

In chapter 1 it was shown that any physical quantity may be expressed in terms of dimensions M, L and T. This forms the basis of dimensional analysis which is an extremely useful technique in situations where exact mathematical analysis is difficult or impossible. In this chapter, dimensional analysis will be introduced and its use in experimental work and the formulation of similarity laws will be considered.
