Abstract
Descriptive statistics concerns large quantities of information, or data: for example ‘Vital Statistics’ are the numbers of births, marriages and deaths in the population each year. Mathematical statistics is the mathematical treatment of numerical data, so that the information can be used in decision-making and forecasting based on the limited data from samples.
