Abstract

Instruments can be classified as either analogue instruments or digital instruments. An analogue instrument is one in which the magnitude of the measured quantity is indicated by means of a pointer. The indication given by a digital instrument is in the form of a series of numbers; the smallest change in the indicated quantity corresponds to a change of ± 1 digit in the least significant position of the number.
