Bivariate Distributions — Correlation, Regression
We have now reached the stage where two distributions can be dealt with simultaneously. These are bivariate distributions — they occur when two sets of data have a common link. In some cases it may be two sets of measurements of a sample of individuals, human or otherwise — height and weight, inside and outside diameters. The link may be time, as with costs of advertising over a period of weeks and the consequent sales. A variety of examples will illustrate this more fully in the exercises at the end of the chapter.
