Abstract

From the fact that ‘x is sufficient for y’ we may infer that ‘y is necessitated by x’. This truth has caused consternation to many who fear that if there are any sufficient conditions for human actions and decisions, then these decisions and actions must be necessitated and human freedom and responsibility jeopardised.
