Abstract

In some respects Jamaica, like the rest of the British Caribbean, is regarded as being part of western industrialised society. At the same time it is a developing, or under-developed country, with tremendous social problems, and its own peculiarities of life and culture, providing a unique social setting within which its adolescents must grow up.
