Abstract

The influence of the school teacher upon children’s lives, and theirs upon his, is a special and most significant form of human relationship. However ‘teaching’ is defined it is inevitably a solemn undertaking and involves much more than interest in, or knowledge of, or a desire to teach a particular subject. Figure 1 shows some of the teacher’s contacts. The elliptical and flattened cylindrical shapes show the people concerning the teacher ana how their lives overlap during the child’s growth into an adult.
