Pressure Groups: The ‘Conceptual Framework’

  • W. J. M. Mackenzie

Abstract

In a recent paper I implied that it was a relatively easy matter to settle a ‘conceptual framework’ for the analysis of politics in terms of pressure-groups.1 A process of trial and error has convinced me that this was simple-minded, and that one must either use the phrase ‘pressure-groups’ as a handy and intelligible colloquialism, or go a very long way into the history of political theory in the last fifty years.
