Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to draw together the main threads of the ‘country’ surveys, and to present conclusions. To try and cover such a width of work and research by different people in one chapter is like assuming that because you have had conversations in your own country about the problems of another land, your conclusions are as soundly based as those which are made after visits to countries, and discussions with people in them; this is as true for developed as developing countries.
