Abstract
It is practically impossible, in the case of France, to dissociate macro-economic policy from wider planning considerations and prices and incomes policies. It is relatively easy for the observer to conclude that different aims were pursued at different moments in time, and that fiscal and monetary means, planning, deficit budgetary policies and prices and incomes policies were adopted wherever it was considered that they would support the fulfilment of the aims of the moment. In the case of macro-policy, only at the end of the 1960s, and now in the 1970s, have Keynesian policies been consciously used.
