Abstract

A plasma located in crossed magnetic and electric fields moves in the direction perpendicular to both of these fields. We now examine the interesting case in which the magnetic field is directed along the axis of a plasma cylinder and the electric field is radial. In this case the plasma velocity vector will be azimuthal, i.e., the plasma cylinder must rotate.
