Abstract
The ionizing-radiation detectors described in the previous chapter do not generally give an output signal which is observable as such. The detectors based on the electrometer principle form an exception to this rule. In this case, one or both of the conducting strips can be used as a needle passing over a graduated scale, so that the amount of incident radiation can be read off directly. The other detectors deliver an electrical output signal which has to be processed in various ways before it can give a visible reading
