Selecting Treatment Processes

In general, the selection of processes which involve heat treatment, metal cleaning, applied mechanical treatments, and all types of surface finishing as used for product manufacture, is essentially the result of a number of practical considerations, involving component design, material, properties and the environmental conditions experienced when the component is in service. To provide the necessary background for selection each group of treatment processes will be briefly described with details of basic processes, equipment and some of the more important applications for components and products.
