Abstract

Before we begin our study of Maxwell’s equations and their application to various high-frequency problems, we should consider why such complicated procedures are necessary in the microwave frequency range. At low frequencies, even the most complicated circuit can be described in terms of simple concepts such as self-inductance, capacitance, resistance and the like, and this description often enables all the problems met with in practice to be solved satisfactorily.
