The Basis of the International Monetary System
For the past decade or so a number of economists, central bankers and national treasury authorities have taken up positions on the question of international monetary reform. Not one of these commentators has thought that an unaltered version of the present gold exchange standard could function efficiently in the coming years. This body of opinion has felt, for various reasons, that there is an international monetary problem and that some more or less radical revision of monetary arrangements is necessary.
