Abstract

Electrophysiological methods have provided a phenomenological description of the ionic permeability changes underlying cholinergic excitation. In order to decipher the sequence of molecular events involved, it appears necessary to combine the more traditional electrophysiological and pharmacological techniques with new approaches and perhaps new concepts.
