Housing Development

Municipal Engineering Practice

Abstract

The responsibilities of municipal engineers for housing work vary between authorities. In very large authorities the houses and flats will often be designed by the city or borough architect, and the municipal engineer will be responsible mainly for the provision of roads and engineering services. In the medium-sized authority the engineer may also design the dwelling units, and in small authorities the engineer is often responsible for the works of maintenance and improvement to local authority houses.
