Abstract
The higher plant is a dynamic entity. All kinds of organic molecules take part in many complex and integrated chemical reactions. Most of this activity is submicroscopic, but occasionally some functions can be noticed without the use of special observation techniques. The leaf movements that display timing in certain plants are an excellent example (see Chapter 15).
