Abstract
Photosynthesis results in the conversion of light energy to chemical energy. This chemical energy is incorporated into the bonds of synthesized compounds, primarily six-carbon sugars. The energy present in such compounds is essentially stored energy, which can be released only by breaking the chemical bonds that hold the molecule together.
