Abstract
THE need for precise temperature measurement and control both in process metallurgy and metallurgical science is apparent. The foundations of present-day pyrometry were laid towards the end of last century. Prior to this, there was little metallurgical science, and in process work dependence was placed on the operator’s experience and judgment.
