Abstract
A well-planned strategy for procurement of PACS or other core software is essential. Formulating a PACS procurement committee, engaging smart strategic planning, and medical imaging stakeholder involvement are imperative. Standard practices such as request for information documents and proof of concept approaches help to mitigate risk. Transparency between the customer and the vendor will facilitate negotiations. Agreement between the vendor and the customer regarding vendor contracts takes time but can be accomplished with the right protocols, people, and resources.
