Abstract
As with any research approach, the current study has its potential strengths and its undoubted limitations. Potential strengths include the consistency of a single practitioner approach in defined clinical settings and geographical locations, with data collected over a relatively long period of time (10 years). On the other hand, shortcomings include the selected nature of the study population, inevitable in any hospital-based study, although by the same token it may be anticipated that this specific population will be enriched for those with neurological illness. Reliance on patient report makes the study open to bias; such a study is difficult to validate, although, like all clinical encounters, it has intuitive face validity.
