Simple pinching, description of the vanishing chains, characterization of the vanishing classes, localization, Picard’s formula, Lefschetz’ formula, ramification type, invariant classes, proof of the Picard-Lefschetz formula. Study of certain singular points of Landau varieties, application of the Picard-Lefschetz formula.
