Abstract

Internationally, Antarctic research falls under the perview of the Scientific Committee for Antarctic Research (SCAR), which belongs to the ICSU-family. In 1991 the General Committee of the International Council of Scientific Unions listed SCAR as one of the bodies to be reviewed. For this purpose a panel of experts selected from the scientific community at large was appointed, with myself as Chairperson.
